objective
To illustrate a graphic to positively communicate how to approach COVID-19
approach
This was a 1 day turn-around project. I had to illustrate:
∙ Wash your hands often.
∙ Avoid large gatherings.
∙ Don’t shake hands.
∙ Don’t touch your face.
∙ Stay home if you’re sick.
∙ Maintain at least 6' of space from other people.
∙ Disinfect frequently used surfaces in your home often.
∙ If you think you’re getting sick, immediately isolate yourself from others, especially people over 60 and people with pre-existing medical conditions.
With the illustration, it was also important to show as much diversity as possible while working with the brand’s color palette.

objective
To illustrate a graphic to positively communicate how to safely approach COVID-19 and still enjoy pass times
approach
This was a 1 day turn-around project. I worked with using the company’s brand colors throughout the illustration save for the skin tones. I was conscious to incorporate diverse people while still sticking to the core objective.
I had access to previous character and prop assets that I was able to reuse for this quick turnaround project with the exception of the palm trees and buildings. I edited the models to fit the needs of the projects.
Hand-lettering // Illustration
-
objective
To create fun and whimsical illustrative designs that define the word.
approach
I designed this illustrations as an exercise to help me implement quick decision making skills. I would look up the definition of the word then think of a color that resembled that meaning. I usually illustrated with analogous or monotonous colors.
For Enjoy, I instantly thought of food. I was really into the very groovy lettering of the 70s so I used the colors and lettering as my inspiration.

For Enchanting, I went with my all-time favorite concept to draw — witches! I adore witches and all things magical so when this word came up, it was only natural to draw a witch!

For Rapture, I illustrated exactly what it meant: “a feeling of intense pleasure or joy.” I chose yellow and orange since those are very positive, warm, and joyous colors.

For Emotions, I worked with concepts of introducing an array of colors, drawing inspiration from Inside Out. I decided to keep it simple and show the two most recognizable emotions while handlettering each letter in a different color.

Vector Character 360 Sheets
objective
To design characters based on an original story concept
approach
I really love the desert (but I hate the heat!), so I decided to create a story based in the region. Each character is designed from a plant or flower that can be found in a desert.
Characteristics of said flora are represented by the designs. I wanted to work with colors that contrast against what would be a warm color palette.

8”x11” Illustration
objective
To re-create Jon Whitcomb’s “A Kiss Goodbye”, then re-imagine it into something modern
approach
I wanted the re-creation to look edgy and chic reflecting the portrayed lifestyles of many popular Makeup Artists on Instagram. This illustration was also heavily inspired by the #wastehistime movement on Twitter.
The modern approach was supposed to be very subtle, but believable.

I saw Kayla Durham at El Rio where she is the Sound Manager. Her bubbly personality, unique hair, and dance moves were what caputred my attention. I really wanted to capture that with my design, so I made sure to draw her with a big smile and incorpated a fun color palette.

8”x8” Illustration
objective
To design a character based off of Aesop’s Fables, The Fox and the Cat targeted to children
approach
I wanted this design to look playful and child-like. His character was meant to look scrappy, dirty, but confident and joyous. He likes to show off all of his get-away plans and write them down in his book.
I drew him with a satchel because I pictured him as a traveler fox, looking to expand his knowledge in the art of escaping.\
